CHASSIS
DRIVE CHAIN ADJUSTMENT
(Fig. 25)
Carry out the cleaning operations as
described in the "periodical maintenance
card" . Check the chain tension adjusting
and lubricate it if necessary. The chain is
correctly adjusted when the motorcycle is in
vertical position and unloaded, as shown on
fi gure. If not, adjust the chain as follows:
- loosen the nut (1) of the wheel axle;
- loosen the nuts (2) on both sides of the
chain-adjusters then operate the adjusting
screws (3) till the correct tension is restored
(make sure that both the chain streighteners
are aligned on the same notch);

- tighten the nuts (2);
- tighten nut (1) of the wheel axle;
- check again the chain tension.

A=12 mm/0.47 in.
After the adjustment, always check the
wheel alignment and tighten the wheel axle
fully. Before lubricating the chain clean it
carefully. On dusty roads, or in poor road
conditions, more frequent lubrication is
necessary.
NOTE*: Do not assemble a new chain on
a secondhand sprocket and crown.
Maintenance of pinion, chain, crown and
chain-tightener rollers according to the
"Periodical Maintenance Card".
