Chapter 8 Connecting to External Devices — External device connection and recording control function using HD SDI

External device connection and recording control function using HD SDI

This camera supports HD SDI remote function. Recording and recording pause control signals of the external device can be superimposed on the HD
SDI signal that is output from the <SDI OUT1> terminal or <SDI OUT2> terminal.

HD SDI remote function

This function superimposes signals that remotely controls recording and recording pause of external devices connected to the <SDI OUT1> and <SDI
OUT2> terminals on the HD SDI output signal. To activate this function, set the main menu → [I/F SETUP] → [OUTPUT SEL] → [HDSDI REMOTE] to
[ON].
For details, refer to [HDSDI REMOTE] (page 165).
External device control
r When recording both to the camera and external device
External device is controlled so that it follows the recording and recording pause operations of the camera.
r When recording only to an external device and not to the camera (P2 card is not inserted)
Recording and recording pause signals output alternately to the external device by every press of the <REC> button.
Display during external device control
While recording command is being output, [SDI REC] is displayed in the viewfinder and LCD monitor, and the back and rear tally lamps and the tally
lamp on the viewfinder lights up.
While recording pause command is being output, [SDI &] is displayed and the tally lamps will go off.
For details on the display, refer to "HD SDI recording control information display" (page 76).
Also be aware of the following points.
f Even when data is not recorded on the camera, the tally lamp lights up while a recording command is being output.
f The recording control signal status output from the camera is indicated, and not the recording status of the connected external device.
Set [GREEN] or [CHAR] in the main menu → [REC/PB] → [REC/PB SETUP] → [REC TALLY] to indicate the recording status of the camera with the
green tally lamp on the viewfinder or with characters. You can distinguish the status from the external device control status indicated by the previously
mentioned tally lamps.
