Configuring Port-Based VLAN Stacking
This section describes how to use Command Line Interface (CLI) commands to configure port-based
VLAN Stacking. These commands are available only when the switch is operating in the VLAN Stacking
legacy mode.
The following are the major steps involved in configuring port-based VLAN Stacking:

Select VLAN Stacking legacy mode. Port-based VLAN Stacking is only configurable when the
switch is operating in the legacy mode. This mode is active on the switch by default. If it is necessary to
change the current mode, use the

Configuring SVLANs

There are two kinds of SVLANs: one that carries customer traffic and one that carries provider manage-
ment traffic. SVLANs are not configurable or modifiable using standard VLAN commands. The excep-
tion to this is that it is possible to configure an IP interface for a provider management SVLAN. However,
traffic is not routed on this interface.
This section describes how to use Alcatel-Lucent's Command Line Interface (CLI) commands to config-
ure SVLANs on a switch. For a brief tutorial on configuring SVLANs, see
on page 6-5.

Creating an SVLAN

To create a new SVLAN, use the
ID number, which can be any integer from 2 to 4094. (Default VLAN 1 is part of the standard switch
configuration and does not need to be created.) For example, to create SVLAN 10 to carry customer traf-
fic, enter:
-> vlan svlan 10 traffic customer
To create SVLAN 20 to carry provider management traffic, enter:
-> vlan svlan 20 traffic provider
You can also specify the administrative status and a name for the SVLAN with the svlan command. For
example, to administratively enable (the default) an SVLAN when you configure it, enter svlan, followed
by the SVLAN ID number and enable.
