How To Install Memory Chips in Your PC

These instructions apply only to the Xerox Personal
Computer. If you are adding memory to a Writer
~
System, go to p.2-21, How to Install Memory ·

Chips in Your Writer System.
This installation requires that both the top and
bottom covers of the processor be removed. Remove
the covers
CAREFULLY
to avoid cutting yourself on
sharp edges or damaging delicate computer parts.
If you prefer, a service representative can install
the memory chips for a fee.
If you have a hard disk system which has been
in use, you'll need to put it into shipping mode
before turning your processor over to remove the
bottom cover. See Moving, p.6-1, for instructions
on how to put your system into shipping mode.
Before you begin, be sure there are 18 memory
chips in the Memory Expansion Kit. You will also
need a flat-bladed screwdriver.
If you're adc.'. tng memory chips to a memory board
outside the S)-Stem, turn to page 2-13 and begin at
the top of the page.
If you're adding memory to a system already set up:
- BE SURE
the computer's power switch is OFF.
- Unplug the electrical power cord.
- Disconnect all plugs from the back of the
processor.

Loosen the two screws securing the top cover of
the processor. (The screws do not have to come
all the way out.)
