These instructions apply only to the Writer
System. If you are installing additional memory
in a Xerox Personal Computer, go to p.2-1,
Installing a Memory Board in Your PC, or p.2-
10, How to Install Memory Chips in Your PC.
This installation requires that both the top and
bottom covers of the processor be removed.
Remove the covers CAREFULLY to avoid
cutting yourself on sharp edges or damaging
delicate computer parts.
If you prefer, a service representative can install
the memory chips for a fee.
If you have a hard disk system which has
been in use, you'll need to put it into shipping
mode before turning your processor over to
remove the bottom cover. See Moving, p.6-1, for
instructions on how to put your system into
shipping mode.
Before you begin, be sure there are 18 memory
chips in the Memory Expansion Kit. You will also
need a flat-bladed screwdriver.
If you're adding memory to a system already set
up:
BE SURE the computer's power switch is
OFF.
Unplug the electrical power cord.
Disconnect all plugs from the back of the
processor.
