MAINTENANCE
ENGINE IDLE SPEED
Inspect and adjust the idle speed after all other engine
•
maintenance items have been performed and are within
specifications.
The engine must be warm for accurate adjustment. Ten
•
minutes of stop-and-go riding is sufficient.
Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature, shift
the transmission into neutral and place the motorcycle on
a level surface.
Connect a tachometer to the spark plug cable and select
the mode according to its manufacturer's instructions.
Turn the throttle stop screw as required to obtain the
specified idle speed.
IDLE SPEED: 1,400 ± 100 min
SECONDARY AIR SUPPLY SYSTEM
The secondary air supply system introduces filtered
•
air into the exhaust gases in the exhaust port. Fresh
air is drawn into the exhaust port by the function of the
PAIR control valve.
This charged of fresh air promotes burning of the
•
unburned exhaust gases, and changes a considerable
amount of hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide into
relatively harmless carbon dioxide and water vapour.
Remove the fuel tank (page 2-3).
