with feeler gauge.

Measure the radial clearance of the connecting rod big end.

If the timing
sprocket teeth
Check the timing sprocket teeth for wear or damage.

Remove the timing sprocket if necessary.
Check the cam
When installing the timing sprocket, while align the center
chain
of the timing sprocket teeth with the center of the crank pin.

CRANKSHAFT/BALANCER BEARING
INSPECTION
Turn the inner of each bearing with your finger. The
bearings should turn smoothly and quietly.
Also check that bearing outer races fit tightly in the
crankcase.
Replace bearing if the inner race do not turn smoothly,
quietly or if they loosely fit in crankcase (page 11-10).
