Formatting the hard disk

If the HD Format Protect parameter is On, it will not be possible to format the hard disk.
If you want to format the hard disk, turn the HD Format Protect parameter to the "Off" setting.
The HD Format Protect parameter lets you allow or prevent formatting of the hard disk. When you turn
on the power of MV-8800, this will automatically be turned On.
1.
Press [SYSTEM].
The SYSTEM MENU screen (Screen Guide; p. 172) will appear.
2.
Press [F1](Global).
The GLOBAL screen (Screen Guide; p. 173) will appear.
3.

If you want to continue with formatting the hard disk, follow the procedure described in "Formatting a
disk" (p. 249).

Naming a disk

You can assign a name (volume label) to each disk.
You can't change the volume label of a CD-R/RW disc.
1.
Move the cursor to the drive to which you want to assign a volume label.
2.
Press [F5](Volume Label).
The EDIT VOLUME LABEL popup (Screen Guide; p. 3) will appear. Enter the desired name.
3.
When you have finished inputting the name, press [F5](OK).
The volume label of the selected drive will be changed.

Explanation
You will be able to format the hard disk. If you want to format the hard disk, select the "Off" setting.
You will not be able to format the hard disk. Normally, you should leave this at the "On" setting.
If you attempt to format the hard disk when the HD Format Protect parameter is On, a message of
"Can't Format the Hard Disk. HD Format Protect is On." will appear.
