Deleting unnecessary portions of a sample (Truncate)

By deleting unnecessary portions (e.g., regions of silence at the beginning and end) of the sample data used
by a partial or audio phrase, you can reduce the amount of space occupied by the data, and use memory more
efficiently.

You can't use the Undo function to bring back a truncated sample.
●
You can select Truncate from the command in the AUDIO PHRASE EDIT screen (Screen Guide; p. 155) or the
SAMPLE EDIT screen (Screen Guide; p. 128).
Start Point Loop Point
1.
Access the SAMPLE MANAGER screen as described in "Viewing a list of samples" (p. 121).
2.
Press [F5](Command).
The SELECT SAMPLE EDIT COMMAND popup (Screen Guide; p. 132) will appear.
3.
Select "Truncate" and press [F5](Select).
The TRUNCATE popup (Screen Guide; p. 136) will appear.
4.
Set the Start Point parameter and End Point parameter.
The Truncate operation will apply to the region between the beginning of the sample and Start Point, End Point
and end of the sample.

You can use PREVIEW [TO (
current point. This lets you verify that you've set the start and end points correctly.

Set the Replace parameter.
If this is on (✔), the edited result will overwrite the original sample.

Executing Truncate with Type set to "Replace" may affect how another partial, audio phrase, or audio event
sound. Refer to "If the following message appears during truncation" (p. 126).
6.
Press [F5](Execute).
The Truncate operation will be executed.
