Disk management

This section describes various settings and operations you can perform for the MV-8800's drives.
1.
Press [DISK/USB].
The DISK/USB MENU screen (Screen Guide; p. 188) will appear.
2.
Press [F2](Disk Utility), or use the cursor to select the DISK UTILITY icon and press
[ENTER].
The DISK UTILITY screen (Screen Guide; p. 193) will appear.

Formatting a disk

This operation formats a disk, erasing all data that was on that disk. By formatting (erasing) or a CD-RW disc
that had been used by a device other than the MV-8800, you can make it usable on the MV-8800.
There is no way to recover data that has been deleted. (Unless, of course, you have previously made a
backup of that data.) Roland Corporation can accept no responsibility for any loss of data or any
damages you incur as a result of such loss.
1.
Move the cursor to the drive whose disk you want to format.
If you want to format the hard disk, you'll need to change the parameter settings before you execute the
formatting operation. Refer to "Formatting the hard disk" (p. 250).
2.
Press [F3](Format).
The display will ask "All data on the disk will be lost. Are you sure?"

[F5](Yes)
If you are formatting (erasing) a CD-RW disc, the "Erase CD-RW" message will appear.

[F5](Yes (Full))
If you format the hard disk, a default project and song will be automatically created after formatting, and the
SONG screen (Screen Guide; p. 8) will appear.
Action
Cancels the operation.
Begins formatting the selected disk.
Action
Cancels the operation.
Erases the CD-RW disc at high speed.
Erases the CD-RW disc completely.
