No Lock-Up Occurs

System Description
TCM turns TCC solenoid OFF under any of the following conditions.
• Brake light switch is turned ON, that is, brake pedal is depressed.
• Engine coolant temperature is less than 60 °C, 140 °F.
• Throttle opening is as much as 0%.
• TCM detects the following DTCs.
P0705 / P0710 / P0715 / P0720 / P0725 / P0743 / P0748 / P0753 / P0758 / P0785 / P1700 / P1702
Troubleshooting
WARNING
!
• When performing a road test, select a place where there is no traffic or possibility of a traffic
accident and be very careful during testing to avoid occurrence of an accident.
• Road test should be carried out with 2 persons, a driver and tester, on a level road.
Step
1 Was "A/T System Check" performed?
2 Check DTC
Is DTC P0705, P0710, P0715, P0720, P0725, P0743,
P0748, P0753, P0758, P0785, P1700 or P1702 detected?
3 1) Perform running test under the following conditions and
check voltage between terminal "G08-12" of TCM
connector and ground.
• Engine coolant temperature is in normal operating
temperature.
• O/D off switch is turned OFF.
• Selector lever is in "D" range.
• Brake pedal is released.
• Drive vehicle with 4th gear and TCC ON condition
referring to "Automatic Gear Shift Diagram".
Is terminal voltage about 9 – 14 V?
4 Brake light switch signal inspection
1) With ignition switch ON, check voltage between terminal
"G08-16" of TCM connector and ground.
Brake light switch signal specification
Brake pedal is released: 0 – 1 V
Brake pedal is depressed: 8 – 14 V
Is result as specified?
Action
Automatic Transmission/Transaxle:
Yes
Go to Step 2.
Perform DTC flow to
repair and retry.
Faulty TCC solenoid
valve, circuit or
transaxle.
Substitute a known-
good TCM and recheck.

No
Go to "A/T System
Check".
Go to Step 3.
"GRN/WHT" circuit
shorted to ground. If
wire is OK, go to Step 4.
Mis-adjusted brake light
switch, faulty brake light
switch.
If OK, substitute a
known-good TCM and
recheck.
