Valve and Valve Guide
1. Inspect each valve for the following. Replace or
resurface if necessary.
(1) Damaged or bent stem
(2) Roughness or damage to face
(3) Damage or uneven wear of stem tip
2. Check the valve head margin thickness. Replace
if necessary
Margin thickness
IN : 0.5 mm (0.020 in) min.
EX: 1.0 mm (0.039 in) min.

3. Measure the valve length.
Length
IN : 115.81 mm (4.5594 in)
EX: 116.21 mm (4.5752 in)
4. Measure the valve stem diameter.
Diameter
IN : 6.970—6.985 mm (0.2744—0.2750 in)
EX: 6.965—6.980 mm (0.2742—0.2748 in)

5. Measure the valve guide inner diameter.
Inner diameter
IN : 7.01—7.03 mm (0.2760—0.2768 in)
EX: 7.01—7.03 mm (0.2760—0.2768 in)

6. Measure the valve stem to guide clearance.
(1) Method No. 1
Subtract the outer diameter of the valve stem
from the inner diameter of the corresponding
valve guide.
