This chapter shows you how to configure static routes for your ZyWALL. This chapter is only
16.1 Static Route Overview
Each remote node specifies only the network to which the gateway is directly connected, and the
ZyWALL has no knowledge of the networks beyond. For instance, the ZyWALL knows about
network N2 in the following figure through remote node Router 1. However, the ZyWALL is unable
to route a packet to network N3 because it doesn't know that there is a route through the same remote
node Router 1 (via gateway Router 2). The static routes are for you to tell the ZyWALL about the
networks beyond the remote nodes.
16.2 Configuring IP Static Route
Click STATIC ROUTE to open the IP Static Route screen (some of the screen's blank rows are not
shown).
The first static route entry is for the default WAN route and
cannot be modified or deleted. The name of the default static route
is left blank unless you configure a static WAN IP address.
The default route is disabled after you change the static WAN IP
address to a dynamic WAN IP address.
