Analysis

Most Teledyne LeCroy oscilloscopes calculate measurements for all
instances in the acquisition, enabling a variety of unique capabilities for
advanced waveform analysis. This includes the ability to rapidly and
thoroughly analyze a long memory acquisition and calculate thousands or
millions of parameter values, or find anomalous measurements, or apply a
variety of mathematical functions to an acquisition.
These measurements and manipulations of the original input signal can be
viewed in several graphical formats to facilitate your analysis:
Histograms provide a view of the measurement parameter
distribution. See Viewing Histograms (on page 116).
 Tracks provide a time-correlated view of a measurement parameter
compared to other acquired channels or calculated math traces. A
common usage for track is to observe the modulation of a signal,
such as amplitude, frequency, or pulse width modulation. See
Viewing a Track (on page 120).
 Trends provide a view of the measurement parameter over an
extended period of time and over multiple acquisitions. See Viewing
Trends (on page 119) and Track vs. Trend (on page 115).
There are also conditional tests that can be applied to the data to find
particular events:
Pass/Fail Testing allows definition of the normal or abnormal
measurement parameter value with a definable pass/fail action
alerting the operator when a condition is met. See Pass/Fail Testing
(on page 121).
WaveScan allows searching through a single acquisition for a
measurement parameter that meets a variety of conditions, or
scanning through multiple acquisitions with allowable trigger
actions when conditions are met. In addition, a variety of views can
be used to understand the specific behaviors of searched or
scanned measurement parameters. See Introduction to WaveScan
(on page 131).
