2.25.2 Creating the Destination End of an SPVP
To create the destination end of an SPVP, perform the following steps:
1.
Use the arrow keys to highlight the INTERFACE field.

Enter a valid interface number. For example,
9A686-04 installed in slot 7 of the SmartSwitch 9500. Therefore, a valid source interface
value would be 70202 (port 2 of ANIM 2).
In step 4, the available range for the VPI field depends on the current ILMI settings,
NOTE
and the amount of the VPIs currently being used by SVCs. Refer to

The device that will support the source end of this SPVP MUST have the same

destination VPI value assigned as those entered in step 4. If the source device
CAUTION
does not have the same destination VPI value assigned, the SPVP will NOT be
created.
If the device that will support the source end of this SPVP is another 9A686-04,
refer to
Section 2.24
3.
Use the arrow keys to highlight the VPI field.
4.
Enter a valid VPI value.
5.
Use the arrow keys to highlight the ATM ADDRESS field.
6.
Enter a unique, 40 bit ATM address.
The device that will support the source end of this SPVP MUST have the same ATM

address assigned as the one entered in the ATM ADDRESS field. If the source
CAUTION
device does not have the destination ATM address assigned, or has a different ATM
address assigned, the SPVP will NOT be created.
If the device that will support the source end of this SPVP is another 9A686-04,
refer to
Section 2.24
7.
Use the arrow keys to highlight the TOGGLE PERSISTENCE command at the bottom
of the screen.
Setting the ATOM persistence to "ON" signifies that in the event that the 9A686-04
!
module or SmartSwitch 9500 chassis is reset, this SPVP will still exist after boot up.
CAUTION
Setting the ATOM persistence to "OFF" signifies that if the module or chassis is
reset, this SPVP will be lost upon boot up.
8.
Press ENTER to toggle between the options until the desired setting displays in the ATOM
Persistence is: field.
9.
Use the arrow keys to highlight the CREATE VPL command at the bottom of the screen.
