Configuring Complex Domains

Adding multiple hidden machines

The method described in
for adding a few hidden machines. If your site has a large number of hidden
machines, this method becomes time-consuming. Some sites, for example,
disable the Microsoft browser to reduce network traffic, which in effect makes
all the machines hidden.
A faster method for adding hidden machines is to use an imported browse list.
The list can be made with a text editor or generated from a spreadsheet
package (such as Excel) as a text file with the entries separated by commas. The
list contains various details for each machine, including its name, the domain,
and optional comments.
If you have a large network with many departments and domains, you may
find it easier to manage with several smaller imported browse lists instead of
one large list. Also, the Management Console operates more efficiently in this
manner.
Keep the imported browse list in the same directory that the Management
Console uses with the anti-virus components. This ensures that you can
always access the list. If the list is on another server, a network failure might
prevent you from accessing it.
Each imported browse list appears in the network view of the Management
Console as a collection of computer names, similar to the usual network view.
You can then add these to your anti-virus domains as described in
