Updating Your Anti-virus Software

Changing anti-virus software versions

The Management Console's main window shows both network and anti-virus
domains as hierarchical structures. In the anti-virus domain view, you can
change the version of the anti-virus software for all domains, for an individual
domain, for a specific group of machines, and for individual machines.
È
If you change your version at the global or domain level and some machines
within your domain(s) use earlier versions and some machines run later
versions, the configuration dialog box appropriate to the machine using the
most recent version opens.
The new anti-virus software is installed onto all machines, unless you have
overridden the configuration settings. In that case, the Management Console
attempts to update the settings that are common to both the new and old
versions.
To complete installing the new anti-virus software onto machines with
overridden configuration settings, you need to apply the configuration at the
individual machine level.
For information on how to change your global or domain version, see
"Changing the version for all anti-virus
for individual domains" on page

If you change your version at the global or domain level, and all your
machines use the same version and configuration, your machine configuration
changes will proceed normally. Changing a version at the individual machine
level will automatically use the configuration option appropriate to the
version on that machine.
