Cleaning the Hopper (for Full-Eject Vehicles)

Hopper cleaning procedure:
1. Park the vehicle on level ground and apply the parking brake.
2. Fully extend the arm.

Remove both tailgate safety pins from their locking position.

Fully open the tailgate and fully extend the packer.

Properly set the tailgate safety prop (see Figure 2-9).
6.
Perform the lockout/tagout procedure (see Locking Out and Tagging Out the Vehicle on page 33).

7. Open the clean-out door on each side of the hopper (see Figure 4-15).
8. Clean all accumulated dirt behind the packer and around the ejection cylinder (see Figure 4-13)
through the clean-out trap. Also, clean the packer side tracks with the provided hoe. Use
pressurized water if necessary. Be careful with limit switches to prevent misalignment.
9. Rake small pieces of garbage out of the clean-out trap using the hoe.

Make sure that no one stands directly in the path of the arm before extending it.
Ensure the overhead is clear before opening the tailgate.
Always use the tailgate safety prop while working under a raised tailgate. The safety prop
should be used even if the tailgate is in fully raised position.
