3-8 Adjusting the Milling Depth
Lift the level plate, and insert the spacers
to get the required height.
(1) Put your fingers into the holes in the level plate,
lift the plate, and change the spacers.
(2) Insert spacers with the same total thickness at
both ends, and be sure that the level plate is
really level.
• Adjust the milling depth by using the right
combination of spacers. These come in 3 sizes
(1, 1.5 and 2 mm or 0.04", 0.06" and 0.08").
(Refer to the table to the right.)
• There are 3 sizes of spacers. You can use any
combination of up to 2 spacers.
• If all 3 sizes are inserted, the level plate
will be raised too high. This will cause the
machine to think that the book block is not
inserted into the carriage clamp correctly.
This may stop the machine.
• If the base plate is also removed, the
milling depth can be set to 4 mm (0.16").
Reduce the milling depth depending on
sheet weight, size or thickness of book
block.
The PUR chip cutter specifically gives
much load on the milling motor.
Turn the Emergency Stop button
clockwise to release it.
Press .
The carriage clamp returns to the level plate.
Press .
The display returns to the Bookbinding –
Operation screen.

The level plate and book block are raised and
the milling depth is reduced by an amount
equal to the increase in the spacer thickness.
The drag on the milling cutters is reduced
when the milling depth is reduced.
