1-2-3 Milling Section

Milling Brush
This brush removes the trim from the book blocks.
Upper Knife
The spine of the book block is cut
off by the upper knife and the
milling cutter.
Milling Guide
This moves automatically
to match the thickness of
the book blocks.
Brake Release Button
When this button is held down, the milling brake
is released, and the milling cutter can be turned
by hand. This button works only if the power
switch is turned on and the Emergency Stop
button has been pressed, or if one of the covers
has been opened.
Milling Set Lever
This lever can be set to one of three positions: Level,
Angle, and Off. When the milling function is not going
to be used, rotate this lever clockwise (to the Off
position) to lower the milling cutter.

The milling mechanism may be overloaded and the
carriage clamp may be locked at the milling section
depending on the sheet weight, the book thickness
and the milling depth. If this happens, adjust the
production speed and the milling depth.
For EVA
Milling Cutter
This rotates clockwise, and
the spine of each book block
is cut off between the milling
cutter and the upper knife.
Notching Cutter
These cut slots in the spine
of the book block.
Chip Cutter
For PUR
This cuts the spine of each
book block to create a saw-
toothed edge. It is used to
increase the surface area of
the spine and bring out the
fibers in the paper. (It can also
be used with EVA.)
Spacers
One spacer is equivalent to
0.1 mm (0.004"). The
machine is provided with four
spacers when it is shipped
from the factory.
Milling Cutter
This rotates clockwise, and
the spine of each book block
is cut off between the milling
cutter and the upper knife.
