2. Checks Before Operating
This chapter lists the safety checks which must be carried out on the machine
before starting the bookbinding job.
2-1
Turning On the Power Switch
1
Turning the power switch on.
• Turn the switch clockwise to turn on the power.
The Start-Up screen appears on the touch
panel followed by the Setup – Bookbinding
Settings screen.
WARNING
Do NOT touch the melt tanks after the
power has been turned on.
The melt tanks are heated to about 200°C
(400°F), and you may be burned if you
touch them.
Remember that the covers on the top of
the melt tanks are also extremely hot.
2
Wait until the glue in the melt tanks
reaches the set-point temperature.
• It usually takes just under an hour for the glue
in the melt tanks to reach the set-point
temperature.
• Even when the glue is at the set-point
temperature, it is not completely melted if the
Warm-Up screen appears on the touch panel.
To set the side glue and spine glue
temperature, use the buttons on the
temperature controller. (See section 3-20
for more information.)
CAUTION
Wait until the glue melts completely.
The tank may be damaged if the machine
is operated while the glue has not melted
completely.
