1-2-5 Spine Gluing Section

Scraper Roller Height Adjusting
Screw
Use this screw to make an adjustment if you want
to change just the height of the scraper roller.
Second Application Roller
This is used to apply glue to the
spines of the book blocks. The
thickness of the glue on the spine
can be changed by changing the
height of this roller.
Oil Cup
This lubricates the chain used to
rotate the rollers.
Glue Tray
This collects any side glue or spine glue
which has overflowed from the tank.
First Wiper
The amount of glue penetration into the
spines of the book blocks is set by the
wiper opening. The wiper also trims the
glue on the roller.
First Application Roller
This roller is used to apply the glue into
the spines of the book blocks.

Glue Level Upper Limit
Keep the surface of the glue lower than
this line. The position of the lower limit
is 15 mm (0.59") lower than this line.
Second Wiper
The amount of glue
on the second
application roller is
set by the wiper
opening. The wiper
also trims the glue on
the roller.
Horizon HM-221 is the standard glue used in this
section.
Tank Unit Locking Knob
This positioning pin locks the
tank unit in position so that it will
not move.
Scraper Roller
This prevents any excess glue
from being applied to the spines of
the book blocks. Its position
changes along with the tank
height, and it can also be adjusted
separately.
Temperature Controller
This is used to adjust the glue
temperature. The appropriate
temperature is 180°C when the HM-
221 standard glue is used.
