Operating Safety Precautions
WARNINGS for Operation
Keep your hands and fingers away from the tanks while turning the power on. The melt
tanks are heated to a high temperature of about 200 degrees Celsius. The melt tank will
remain hot for a while even after the power switch has been turn to Off. Keep your hands
and fingers away from the tanks until the tanks cool off. Otherwise, you may burn yourself.
Toxic gases may be generated when PUR is used. Be absolutely sure to install a smoke
extractor or similar device, and ventilate. Wear the protectors recommended by PUR
manufacturers when cleaning the PUR tank.
Work alone when you operate the machine.
Letting someone else operate the machine may cause severe personal injury.
Keep your hands and fingers off the carriage clamp while the carriage clamp is moving.
Otherwise moving carriage clamp can cause severe personal injury.
Do not touch the milling cutter and notching cutter with bare hands. Otherwise, these
may cause severe personal injury.
Turn off the power switch before resetting the circuit breakers. Otherwise, the machine
may start suddenly, causing severe personal injury.
Do not remove or bypass any safety features. Moving parts can cause severe personal
injury.
Do not use of glue with a flash point of below 210 degrees Celsius (EVA) or 180
degrees Celsius (PUR).
CAUTIONS for Operation
When the milling guide and the nipper are set narrower than the carriage clamp width,
do not move the carriage clamps. Otherwise, the lower part of a carriage clamp may hit
the guide and be damaged.
Do not insert a book block into a carriage clamp and run the machine until finishing a
changeover. Otherwise, the machine may be damaged.
Do not rotate the application roller if the glue has not melted completely. Otherwise, the
machine may be damaged.
When the optional weekly timer is used, the glue tanks will heat up at pre-set times. If you
are using this feature, check the machine to be sure the tanks can be heated safely.
After turning the Power switch off, wait ten seconds before turning it on again. Other-
wise, the circuit board may be damaged.
Close the carriage clamp before turning the clamp manually. Otherwise, the clamp may
collide with other parts.
