5-9 Cleaning the PUR Tank
Attach the drain for the spine glue.
(1) Loosen the mounting screws for the spine glue
drain. (These are attached to the frame.) Hang
the spine glue drain from the screws.
(2) Tighten the mounting screws.
Place the disposal container under the
glue drain.
Use a container that will not be damaged
by the hot glue. It can be dangerous if the
container tears or cracks.
Slide the rubber stopper clamp plate out of
the way.
• Loosen the two mounting screws so you can
move the plate.
Remove the rubber stopper.
The glue starts to run out of the tank.
Be careful not to touch any glue which is
stuck to the spine glue drain. The hot glue
can cause burns.
The PUR tank is coated with Teflon. The
service life of the tank will be shortened if a
hard object is used during cleaning. This
can scratch the tank.
Scrape out as much glue from the inside of the tank
as possible. This makes easier to peel away the glue
after it has hardened.
Cool the glue and turn off the power
switch.
• Cool the PUR glue completely so that it will not
generate the toxic gas. Usually, it takes 40
minutes by 22 degrees Celsius after the tank
unit is pulled out.
