STEERING / SUSPENSION
8. Install the (2) fasteners retaining the bushing strap

bracket to the bulkhead
specification.
TORQUE
Bushing Strap Bracket Fasteners
20 ft-lbs (27 N·m)
9. Tighten the (4) fasteners retaining the steering
support brackets to the EPS mount and torque to
specification.
TORQUE
EPS Mount to Steering Support Bracket Fasteners
20 ft-lbs (27 N·m)
10. Tighten the (2) carriage bolts that retain the lower
steering post to the steering post mount and torque to
specification.
TORQUE
Steering Post Fasteners (Lower)
20 ft-lbs (27 N·m)
11. Tighten the pinch bolt in the lower steering post and
torque to specification.
TORQUE

20 ft-lbs (27 N·m)
12. Tighten the (2) pinch bolts in the upper steering post
and torque to specification.

13. Reinstall the fuel tank assembly, fuel line and
reconnect the fuel pump harness.
14. Reinstall the right front wheel. Torque wheel lug nuts
to specification.
TORQUE

120 ft-lbs (162 N·m)
15. Reconnect the (2) electrical harnesses to the EPS
unit.
16. Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position and move
the handlebar from left to right several times to
ensure the power steering does not bind. If binding
occurs, do the following:
a. Loosen the (4) screws retaining the EPS mount to
the EPS unit.
b. Move handlebars from left to right several times to
position the EPS unit.
c. Torque the (4) screws retaining the EPS mount to
the EPS unit to specification.
d. Check the steering operation for binding again.
e. If no binding is present, proceed; if binding is still
present, repeat this procedure.
17. If removed, install the (2) coolant bottle screws to the
lower RH tube frame and torque to specification.
TORQUE
Coolant Bottle Screws
Torque Until Fully Seated
18. Install the seat, both front mud guards and side
panels, and the RH footwell. Torque screws to
specification.
TORQUE
Footwell Screws
36 in-lbs (4 N·m)
19. Install the front rack / storage box, front cover, and
front cab.
