Removing the Vacuum Manifold's Top Cover Plate

To access the MP0 and MP1 ion guides, mass analyzer, and ion detection system, remove the
top cover plate of the vacuum manifold. The top cover is held in place by gravity and by the
pressure differential between vacuum and atmosphere. Six cables connect to the vacuum
manifold's top cover plate.
To remove the vacuum manifold's top cover plate
1. Disconnect the two electron multiplier HV coaxial cables at the back of the plate
(Figure
70).

2. Use a small slotted screwdriver to loosen the screws that secure the electrometer cable, and
then disconnect the cable.
3. Disconnect the three cables connected to the top cover PCB.
