3-3-1. Upper Drum Assembly Replacement

Never touth the rotating drum.
If you touch the drum with hand or screwdriver, it is danger to get hurt by the
rapidly spring drum.
. Make sure that the rotating drum completely stops berore cleaning or replacement
of parts.
. Never touch the rotating drum during adjusting.

Replacement
1. Remove the Rotary Head Cleaner Assembly
(Refer to steps 1 and 2 in Section 3-3-4.)
2. Remove the Brush/Slip Ring Assembly
(Refer to steps 1 and 2 in Section 3-3-2.)
3. Remove the Height Determining Plate
4. Shift the Air Stabilizer
5. Remove the Upper Drum Assembly
6. Cleaning (Upper Drum Assembly Mounting Surface, Drum Support Mounting
Surface, Lower Drum Flange Surface, Tape Running Surface, Lead Surface
and Contacting Points)
7. Install the Upper Drum Assembly
8. Cleaning
9. Install the Height Determining Plate
10. Adjust the Air Stabilizer Clearance
11. Install the Brush/Slip Ring Assembly
(Refer to steps 4 and 5 in Section 3-3-2.)
12. Cleaning (Rotary Heads)
13. Install the Rotary Head Cleaner Assembly
(Refer to steps 4 through 6 in Section 3-3-4.)
Adjustment after Replacement
14. Confirm the Tape Running (Refer to Section 5-3.)
15. Perform the PG Adjustment (SV1E: Manual PG Adjustment)
(Refer to Section 6-2.)
16. Confirm the Tracking (Refer to Section 5-4.)
17. Confirm the Drum Head Height (Refer to Section 5-9.)
18. Confirm the CTL/TC Head Height (Refer to Section 5-5.)
19. Adjust the CTL/TC Head Position (Refer to Section 5-7.)
20. Perform the Drum Phase Automatic Adjustment
(SV0B: RF Switching Position Adjust)
(Refer to Section 6-5-11.)
21. Perform the Playback System All Adjustment (RF01: PB All Adjust)
(Refer to Section 6-6-1.)
22. Perform the Recording Current Automatic Adjustment
