6.9 Principle of Operation

6.9.1 Inputs

The GBC Advanced Punch is a machine that punches various die set hole
patterns into single sheets of paper. The machine is placed between a printer or
copier and a finisher. The punch has two paper paths.
The bypass section.
The punch path.
The bypass moves the paper from the printer to the finisher without punching
holes. The punch path routes the paper from the printer through the punch to be
punched and then routes the paper to the finisher. The punch path can be
selected by pressing the green button on the top of the Advanced Punch.
The Advanced Punch consists of several input and output devices to operate the machine
functions. The system intelligence is a Microchip micro-controller PIC17C752. The I/O
devices are listed in the tables below.
