Do not perform the following procedure on used alumina. The resultant oil vapors may
cause a fire or an explosion.

Prepare fresh alumina as follows:
a.) Preheat the oven to 300
b.) Pour approximately 180 grams of fresh alumina into a glass or metal container
(approximately 250 mL if a graduated beaker is used). Place the container in the oven.
c.) Bake the alumina for two hours at 300
d.) Remove the baked alumina from the oven and allow it to cool until luke warm. A desiccator
may be used to speed the cooling process.
7.
Use a small spatula to gently pry the O-ring from the end fittings of each end of the trap body.
8.
Inspect the O-rings:
• If dusty, clean with a lint-free tissue.
• If damaged, replace with a new O-ring.
