Defining Sample Information Files
A sample information file must be created for each analysis. This file can be created in advance or at
the time of analysis. The sample information file identifies the sample, guides the analysis, and speci-
fies report options.
A sample information file may be created in Restricted, Basic, or Advanced format
Advanced Format
1.
Go to File > Open > Sample Information or use the F2 keyboard shortcut.
2.
Accept the next sequenced file number or enter a new name in the File name text box. Click
Open.
3.
Click OK to create the file.
Some text boxes
may not display if
omitted in Sample
Defaults.
4.
Enter a sample description in the Sample text box.
5.
Enter Operator, Submitter and Bar Code identification information in the respective text boxes.
6.
In the Mass group box, choose whether to enter mass manually or to have the system
automatically calculate mass. Enter a value for sample mass and/or density. Refer to
Files, page 5-8.

In the Type of Data group box, select if data are to be automatically collected or manually
entered.
