12. Removing the splined pinion drive gear exposes the
snap ring. Remove it using a snap ring pliers.
13. Remove the pinon gear from the housing using a
puller or by tapping the pinion out with a hammer and
brass punch. Inspect the pinion gear for abnormal
wear, broken, or chipped teeth. Spin the bearing and
check for smoothness. Replace if required.
