4.4 Project folder
Further information on the individual system variables can be found in Section Reference list
system variables (Page 368).
The configurations are located in text files with the "*.upcfg" extension. You can also edit the
text files with external editors.
The format of the text files corresponds to that of a CMC task. Value assignments are made
in the form <System variable> = <Value>.
Comments are identified by a prefixed semicolon. You can also remove any number of
configurations from the configuration files and, for example, so limit the number being used.
When loading/using this configuration, only the settings contained in the project/package are
set with all other configurations remaining unaffected. Proceed in this manner, when, for
example, in an existing package, a switchover is performed only between a new installation
and an upgrade for automatic execution.

Project configurations

Project configurations are configuration files used for the deployment of a project for a package.
These configurations contain some or all configurations of the "Package", "Dialogs" and
"Steps" tabs of the project folder for which system variables (Page 368) exist.
The project configurations are contained within the project or also externally next to the
package in a file.
For the deployment of the project via the command line or batch file, these configurations are
sent and activated via a command line switch.
This has the advantage that you can generate different packages automatically without making
changes to the project.

Package configurations

Package configurations are configuration files used for executing a package. These
configurations contain some or all configurations of the "Dialogs" and "Steps" tabs of the project
folder for which system variables (Page 368) exist.
These package configurations are contained within the package on the "Package
configuration" dialog page or also externally next to the package in a file.
For the execution of the package, one of these configurations is selected and activated on the
"Package configuration (Page 151)" dialog page. This has the advantage that one and the
same package is executed with different configurations (automatically) without changes to the
project/package. For example, a single switchover makes it possible with one package to
produce a machine at one time point and to upgrade a machine at another time point.
