The position of the projects as main project or subproject
Project 1 is the main project and can execute only with Project 2 (here subproject).
Project 2 is both the main project and the subproject. From the perspective of Project 1, it is
the subproject. As the main project, it can execute independently with Project 3 (here
subproject).
In this example, Project 3 is a subproject, although it can also execute independently as main
project.
Rules
There is no configurable project property that defines a project as main project or subproject.
Only the application of the project specifies whether a main project or a subproject is involved.
Any project can thus be used as main project or as subproject.
The following rules must be observed when linking steps:
● In a main project (MP), several links from the same or different subprojects (SP) can exist.
● The step trees linked from subprojects must not contain any links to another subproject
(linking depth = 1).
● Subprojects are separate projects and can execute separately even when linked to a main
project.
● The steps are linked by the configuration. When the project is deployed, the configured
links are dissolved and the linked steps of the subproject (SP) are inserted into the main
project (MP).

● Subproject Project 3 to main project Project 2.
Impermissible step logic operation:
Step [2] of the subproject Project 2 is already used in main project Project 1
(linking depth = 1).
