PCI Expansion Module

The PCI expansion module is an optional device that provides an additional twelve PCI
slots for the Origin 300 system. As many as four PCI expansion modules can reside in this
system; the number of PCI expansion modules depends on the number of base modules
in the system (refer to Table A-11).

The PCI expansion module contains 6 buses; each bus can seat one or two 3.3-V or
universal PCI cards that mount on PCI carriers. Each bus supports either two 33-MHz
PCI cards or two 66-MHz PCI cards.
The PCI expansion module communicates with the Origin 300 base modules and the L2
controller via the NUMAlink module. The PCI expansion modules connect to the
NUMAlink module via ports 2, 3, 4, and 5.
