When is a mains filter required?

The EMC product standard (EN 61800-3) covers the specific EMC requirements
stated for drives (tested with motor and cable) within the EU. EMC standards such as
EN 55011 or EN 61000-6-3/4 apply to industrial and household equipment and
systems including drive components inside. Drive units complying with the
requirements of EN 61800-3 are always compliant with comparable categories in
EN 55011 and EN 61000-6-3/4, but not necessarily vice versa. EN 55011 and
EN 61000-6-3/4 do neither specify cable length nor require a motor to be connected
as a load. The emission limits are comparable according to the following table.
