142 Maintenance

Heat sink

The heat sink fins pick up dust from the cooling air. The drive might report
overtemperature warnings and faults if the heat sink is not clean. In a normal
environment, the heat sink should be checked annually, in a dusty environment more
often.
WARNING! Obey the instructions in

normal vacuum cleaner can cause static discharges which can cause damage

Clean the heat sink as follows (when necessary):
1. Stop the drive and disconnect it from input power.
2. Wait for 5 minutes and measure to make sure that there is no voltage. Refer to
Electrical safety
3. Remove the cooling fan (see section
4. Blow clean, dry, and oil free compressed air from the bottom of the heat sink to
the top. Use a vacuum cleaner at the air outlet to trap the dust. If there is a risk
that dust can go into other equipment, clean the heat sink in another room.
5. Install the cooling fan.
