CLUTCH SPRING FREE LENGTH
Measure the free length of each clutch spring using vernier cali-
pers. If any spring is not within the service limit, replace all of the
spring.
 Clutch spring free length
Service Limit: 40.9 mm (1.61 in)
 09900-20101: Venier calipers (150 mm)
CLUTCH RELEASE BEARING
Inspect the clutch release bearing for any abnormality, espe-
cially cracks. When removing the bearing from the clutch, decide
whether it can be reused or if it should be replaced.
Smooth engagement and disengagement of the clutch depends
on the condition of this bearing.

CRANKCASE BEARING AND OIL SEAL

BEARING INSPECTION
While the bearing is in the crankcase, rotate its inner race and
check to see that it turns smoothly. If it does not turn quietly and
smoothly, or if there are signs of any abnormalities, the bearing
is defective and must be replaced as follows:
OIL SEAL INSPECTION
Inspect each oil seal lip for wear and damage. If any defects are
found, replace the oil seal with a new one.
