Definition of characters
Design of a character
A character is depicted according to the following points:
– type image, i. e. 'form of the character'
– relative height and width of the character in comparison to the other charac-
ters of the character set
– position of the character in relation to the base line (print line)
– descender or ascender
– left or right space.
The following diagrams show the design of a capital letter and a small letter with
descender
