Diagnostic Procedure with Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)
ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS)
Step
1 CHECK HARNESS BETWEEN ECM AND
TCM.
1) Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
2) Disconnect the connector from ECM and
TCM.
3) Measure the resistance between ECM and
TCM connector.
Connector & terminal
(B136) No. 27 — (B55) No. 18:
(B136) No. 35 — (B55) No. 17:
2 CHECK HARNESS BETWEEN ECM AND AB-
SCM&H/U.
1) Disconnect the connector from the
ABSCM&H/U.
2) Measure the resistance between ECM and
ABSCM&H/U connector.

(B136) No. 27 — (B301) No. 26:
(B136) No. 35 — (B301) No. 11:
3 CHECK HARNESS BETWEEN ECM, TCM
AND ABSCM&H/U.
Measure the resistance between ECM and
chassis ground.
Connector & terminal
(B136) No. 27 — Chassis ground:
(B136) No. 35 — Chassis ground:
4 CHECK HARNESS BETWEEN ECM, TCM
AND ABSCM&H/U.
Measure the resistance between ECM connec-
tors.
Connector & terminal
(B136) No. 27 — (B136) No. 35:
5 CHECK AT SYSTEM CONDITION.
Perform the diagnosis of AT using the Subaru
Select Monitor.
6 CHECK ABS SYSTEM CONDITION.
Perform the diagnosis of ABS using the Subaru
Select Monitor.
Check
Is the resistance less than 1 Ω? Go to step 2.
Is the resistance less than 1 Ω? Go to step 3.
Is the resistance 1 MΩ or
more?
Is the resistance 1 MΩ or
more?
Is DTC P1718 displayed?
Is DTC 47 displayed?

Repair the open
circuit of harness
between ECM and
TCM connector.
Repair the open
circuit of harness
between ECM and
ABSCM&H/U con-
nector.
Go to step 4. Repair short cir-
cuit of the harness
to ground between
ECM, TCM and
ABSCM&H/U.
Go to step 5. Repair the short
circuit of harness
between ECM,
TCM and
ABSCM&H/U.
Go to step 6.
Check the AT sys-
tem.
Check the ABS Repair poor con-

connector.
