SECTION 5 - BASIC HYDRAULIC INFORMATION & SCHEMATICS
Assembly Instructions for 45° SAE Flare Fittings
1. Inspect the flare for obvious visual squareness and con-
centricity issues with the tube OD. Ensure surface is
smooth, free of rust, weld and brazing splatter, splits,
dirt, foreign matter, or burrs. If necessary replace fitting
or adapter.
DO NOT FORCE A MISALIGNED OR SHORT HOSE/TUBE INTO ALIGNMENT. IT
PUTS UNDESIRABLE STRAIN ONTO THE JOINT EVENTUALLY LEADING TO LEAK-
AGE.
2. Align tube to fitting.
3. Tighten fitting by hand until hand tight.
THE TORQUE METHOD SHOULD NOT BE USED ON LUBRICATED OR OILY FIT-
TINGS. NO LUBRICATION OR SEALANT IS REQUIRED. THE LUBRICATION
WOULD CAUSE INCREASED CLAMPING FORCE AND CAUSE FITTING DAMAGE.

4. Torque fitting to value listed in Table 5-5, 45° Flare (SAE) -
Steel and Table 5-6, 45° Flare (SAE) - Aluminum/Brass
while using the Double Wrench Method outlined in this
section. Refer to FFWR and TFFT Methods for procedure
requirements if using the TFFT method.
NOTE: Torque values provided in Table 5-5, 45° Flare (SAE) - Steel
and Table 5-6, 45° Flare (SAE) - Aluminum/Brass are segre-
gated based on the material configuration of the connec-
tion.
'ALUMINUM/BRASS FITTINGS OR ALUMINUM/BRASS
MATING COMPONENTS' indicate either the following
material configurations:
a. STEEL fittings with ALUMINUM or BRASS mating
components.
b. ALUMINUM or BRASS fittings with STEEL mating
components.
c. ALUMINUM or BRASS fittings with ALUMINUM or
BRASS mating components.
