Arriving carrier not detected at back sensor
The back carrier sensor detects carriers as they enter or leave the station at the back turnstile position. To
check the sensor connection or replace the sensor you must remove the core assembly from the station.
"Core-turnstile assembly" on page 50.

1 Inspect the sensor harness connection at the
PCB assembly.
2 Verify that the sensor is operational.
Turn on power to the station, and disconnect the
Ethernet cable to remove the station from the
PTS network. If the turnstile contains any carri-
ers, remove them.
Open the Diagnostics menu, and go to page 2.
Verify that with no carriers loaded in the turn-
stile, the status of the Send/Receive Sensor is
"clear."
3 Load a carrier into the front turnstile position.
Tap Front to Back to move the carrier into the
send/receive position at the back of the turnstile.
4 Tap Back to Front to move the carrier away
from the back compartment.
5 Remove the core assembly from the station.
Measure the position of the back sensor from
the bottom of the turnstile to the center of the
sensor, as shown.

With no carriers loaded in the turnstile, the status of the
Carrier Sensor is "clear."

If the status does not clear, open the slide plate from
the Diagnostics menu to verify that no carriers are
stuck above it.
 If the status value remains "set" when no carriers are
above the slide plate, go to the next step.
When the carrier moves into the back turnstile position, the
status of the Send/Receive Sensor shows "set."

If the status does not change to "set," then the back
sensor may be defective. Replace it.
 If the status shows "set," go to the next step.
When the carrier moves away from the back turnstile posi-
tion, the status of the Send/Receive Sensor shows "clear."

If the status does not show "clear" when the carrier is
moved from the back turnstile position, go to the next
step.
The measurement from the turnstile base to the center of
the sensor is between 13 inches and 13

If the measurement is significantly greater than 13
inches, the plate holding the sensor may be upside-
down. Turn it over and reattach it in the same position
if necessary.
 If the turnstile contains low-profile compartment-base
carrier holders, replace them with the high-profile hold-
ers, which are designed to raise the carrier's RFID band
so it is level with the sensor and thus more easily
detected.
