Transaction event sequences

Any send or receive request involving a Nexus Station involves a set series of events, described next.

Default state: idle

By default, the station is in idle status, with no transactions actively taking place. Several possible conditions
can occur while the station is in the idle state. Those conditions are described next.
Signed-on / in service
The most common state for the Nexus Station is signed-on or in-service. It is defined by the mechanical
status listed next.
Status screen is shown

Push rod is retracted

 Brake is open
 An empty turnstile position faces forward with the turnstile locked
The security door is open

Station full
A full station cannot accept new carriers. When the station is full, the default state is modified as fol-
lows.

An occupied turnstile position faces forward because no empty positions are available


Function
Five identical turnstile compartments, spaced evenly apart, hold, dispatch, and
receive carriers. and turn with the base turnstile assembly. One of the open
compartments is presented at the front of the station to a user attempting to
send a carrier. As outgoing carriers are loaded from the front position, they
are rotated into the same left-rear position to exit the station.
Controls movement of the turnstile both clockwise and counter-clockwise as
carrier compartments are positioned for dispatch into the exit tube or for
sending or retrieval from the front position through the security door.
This gear motor is spring-loaded to rotate the turnstile base plate. The actual
turnstile position is tracked with an encoder that resides underneath the turn-
stile base.
This bracket adjusts to fit the opening in the upper, outer door and hold it in
place and lock.
Controls station users' security access. All Nexus Stations are delivered with
WhoTube capability, which can be enabled or disabled in the station configu-
ration.
