Nexus Station sensors
The commonly used sensors can be tested to verify their functionality. Test the sensors when you suspect a
problem, or as part of regular preventive maintenance.
Front carrier sensor (load sensor)
The front carrier sensor detects carriers as they enter and exit the front-load carrier compartment. Use the
procedure outlined next to verify that it is functioning properly and determine whether it might require
replacement.
Follow these steps to test the front carrier sensor.
1
Remove the outer door.
2
With the security door down, place an empty carrier into the front load position. Then remove the
carrier from the front position.
3
Observe the LED on the sensor, as follows:
If the LED is green and remains lighted while the carrier is in the front carrier compartment and ,
the sensor is functioning correctly.
If the LED fails to stay lighted or fails to light at all while or if it fails upon the sensor is not func-
tioning correctly.
4
If the sensor is not functioning correctly, you can either recalibrate or replace the sensor board.
To recalibrate the board, follow the instructions in the Maintenance portion of this Guide.
"Turnstile maintenance and operation" on page 62.
To replace the board, detach the harness that is attached to the center of the board, and remove
the board by removing the two Phillips-head screws and reattaching a new board.
Brake sensor
The brake sensor is similar to the front carrier sensor. It is located at the front of the brake tube (coupler).
The test to verify the functionality of the board is similar to the test for the front carrier sensor.
Follow these steps to test the brake sensor.
1
Remove the outer door.
2
With the security door down, place an empty carrier into the front load position, and initiate a dis-
patch (send) transaction from the Nexus Station control panel.
3
Observe the LED on the sensor, as follows:
If the LED is green and remains lighted while the carrier is sent through the coupler tube, the sen-
sor is functioning correctly.
