TURNSTILE ASSEMBLY
BTAIN THE ONE
Core-turnstile assembly
The core-turnstile assembly must be removed from the station so that certain repair and maintenance pro-
cedures can be completed.
Because the assembly is too heavy and bulky for one person to comfortably lift, the core-turnstile
assembly installed into or removed from the station housing using the Nexus Station One-Person Installa-
tion kit. It includes a set of rails and a trolley that are installed temporarily into the station and, with a hand-
cranked winch, raise the core-turnstile assembly off its shipping platform so the installer can guide it into
place within the station housing or guide it out when necessary.
The one-person installation kit can be ordered from Swisslog. Designed specifically for use with the
Nexus Station core assembly, it includes two rails and a separate trolley that includes the winch that raises
and lowers the core assembly as required to place it into or remove it from the station.
CAUTION!
NEXUS STATION CORE. FAILURE TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS MAY RESULT IN INJURY.
Nexus One-Person Installation kit
Use the
Station core into or out of a Nexus Station. Follow the precautions listed next when using it.
Failure to follow the instructions and precautions could lead to personal injury.
Wear suitable clothing. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry.
Verify that the installation rails are locked securely into place before you attach the
core assembly to the trolley.
Keep all body parts clear of the turning mechanism (winch) while operating it.
Center the trolley directly over the core while operating the turning mechanism.
Verify that all fasteners are tight and secure before each use.
Inspect all nylon straps and verify that they are in good condition prior to use.
Disconnect all power sources to the station and core assembly before installing and
operating the rails and turning mechanism.
IMPORTANT! If the core-turnstile assembly must be removed from the rails for servicing,
replacement, or cleaning, it can be lifted by two persons and placed carefully on its side on
a cart for transport.
Never place the core-turnstile assembly on its base without a frame—like the one included
in the Nexus Station shipping container—that protects the components under the turnstile.
The following instructions outline the steps for using the Nexus Station One Person Installation Kit to lift
the core-turnstile assembly into and out of the Nexus Station for installation and/or maintenance. The rails
and trolley from the installation kit are installed in the initial steps and then removed after the core-turn-
stile assembly is in place.
Obtain the one-person installation kit
The rails and trolley from the installation kit are installed in the initial steps and then removed after the
core-turnstile assembly is in place. They are installed and used in the same way when the core-turnstile
assembly must be removed from the station for repairs or replacement.
IMPORTANT! If you are removing the core-turnstile assembly from the station, you must
first remove the brake / coupler tube assembly from the top of the station. Follow the
removal instructions in the Maintenance chapter of this Guide.
