Status: carrier arrived
After the carrier has landed on the slide plate, the station moves it to its reserved slot in the turnstile.
Upon moving into its reserved compartment in the turnstile, the system recognizes the carrier as
"arrived." This sequence is initiated by the system.
1
The carrier lands at the engaged brake, which sets the top sensor.
2
The brake is released, dropping the carrier gently on to the slide plate.
3
If a user action is being initiated at the station, the system allows that action to be completed before
continuing with the carrier arrival sequence.
4
The security door closes to enable the turnstile to rotate.
5
The compartment that has been reserved for the incoming carrier is rotated to the back-left position.
6
The system checks the back sensor to confirm that it is empty. If a carrier is detected, the system
reports a "Deliver to occupied slot" alarm to the SCC and stops the zone.
7
The push rod is extended to catch the carrier.
8
The slide plate is opened, and the carrier drops into the back-left compartment.
9
The push-rod lowers, and the carrier is placed into the back-left turnstile compartment.
10
The slide plate closes.
11
The system checks the back sensor to confirm the carrier is in the slot. If the carrier is not detected, a
"Back sensor problem" is reported to the SCC.
12
The station returns to an idle state.
Dispatching carriers from the Nexus Station
A carrier can be dispatched from the station as long as the station is in a usable state. The station is consid-
ered usable when it is signed in, in service, and idle. In a usable state, the door is open with an empty carrier
position facing forward.
A user can load a carrier into the Nexus Station and start a transaction any time at least one carrier posi-
tion is available for loading. After loading a carrier into the front position, a user has a limited amount of
time to enter instructions for sending the carrier at the station display panel.
Users can choose to load the carrier and then enter instructions, or enter instructions and then load the
carrier. Sequences for both scenarios are shown next.
Carrier loading: address-first sequence
1
User selects a Send screen (Speed Dial, Keypad, or Directory) on the user interface.
2
User enters the destination and selects a send-option.
3
System message prompts user to load the carrier with the following options:
Cancel (enabled)
Done (disabled)
4
Front carrier sensor detects the presence of the carrier, and a carrier icon is displayed at the bottom
of the screen.
5
System message prompts the user with two options:
