!" 2-action cycle
In this mode, pressing the trigger causes wire feed, pre-gas and the
establishment of the welding current. When the trigger is released, welding
ceases and gas continues to flow for the duration of POST-GAS time.
!" 4-action cycle
PRE-GAS is activated the first time the trigger is pressed.
When the trigger is released, welding starts up (wire feed + current).
Pressing the trigger again stops the welding but the gas continues to flow.
Releasing the trigger a final time stops the POST-GAS.
Note: anti-bonding (post retract or burn back) is independent of the welding cycle.
7. SHORT ARC PLUS (OPTIPULS 280 I)
!" Arc characteristics :

By eliminating the "globular" arc operating mode, which is characterised by sizeable
adherent spatter and energy which is higher than in short-arc, Short-Arc Plus enables
one to :
!" increase the welding speed while increasing the current and thus the deposit
rate, while staying within a "short-arc" type operating mode
!" have fewer deformations for a high welding current in the usual range of the
"globular" operating mode
!" reduce the amount of spatter in relation to the globular operating mode
!" obtain a weld bead with a nice appearance
!" reduce smoke emissions in relation to the usual operating modes (as much as
25% less)
!" have good, round penetration
Short Arc Plus is effective with gases displaying globular transfer
behaviour. Activated metal makes it possible to weld at a higher
average voltage with respect to the standard Short Arc.
As a function of the gas used, increase the welding voltage given by the MIX synergy
by the following values:

Short Arc Plus is applicable in MIX position.

8. POWER SOURCE ADVANCED CONFIGURATION

Certain power source operating parameters can be easily configured. This
configuration is carried out by accessing the SETUP; selected by potentiometer 6 on

the front panel. (
see fold-out FIGURE 2 at the end of this notice)
The lower display unit then shows the first message.
PRG
The upper display unit shows the value that one wants to adjust (example: 0.2 s). One
can then change the parameters by pressing the torch trigger (it is possible to scroll
the parameters in both directions; to do this, select mode 2t on the front panel in order
to go up, and mode 4t in order to go down).!
