output is operated by a "Object 12" in DNP3. This object contains parameters for control-
code, count, on-time and off-time. To operate an AUTOBITS output point, send a control-
code of latch-On, latch-Off, pulse-On, pulse-Off, Trip or Close. The remaining
parameters are regarded as appropriate. For example, pulse-On, on-time=100, off-
time=300, count=5 would give 5 positive 100 ms pulses, 300 ms apart.
For description of the DNP3 protocol implementation, refer to the Communication
manual.

Setting guidelines

AUTOBITS function block has one setting, (Operation: Enabled/Disabled) enabling or
disabling the function. These names will be seen in the DNP3 communication
management tool in PCM600.

Function description
Single command, 16 signals

Application

Single command, 16 signals (SINGLECMD) is a common function and always included
in the IED.
The IEDs may be provided with a function to receive commands either from a substation
automation system or from the local HMI. That receiving function block has outputs that
can be used, for example, to control high voltage apparatuses in switchyards. For local
control functions, the local HMI can also be used. Together with the configuration logic
circuits, the user can govern pulses or steady output signals for control purposes within the
IED or via binary outputs.
Figure
168
shows an application example of how the user can connect SINGLECMD via
configuration logic circuit to control a high-voltage apparatus. This type of command
control is normally carried out by sending a pulse to the binary outputs of the IED. Figure
168
shows a close operation. An open breaker operation is performed in a similar way but
without the synchro-check condition.
