Gas Valve Testing Criteria

Sparge Gas Valve (V7-SH)
When the Sparge Gas Valve (V7-SH) is tested, the gas flow rate should be approximately 200 cc/min. Initially, the
flow rate will fluctuate from this value as the gas flow control system adjusts to having the valve opened, but will
stabilize within 20 seconds. If the flow rate stabilizes to less than 200 cc/min, investigate possible plugging in the
sparge gas lines. If the flow rate does not stabilize to 200 cc/min after 20 seconds, V1-GD may need to be
replaced.
During this test, the gas valves are set as follows:
Proportional Valve (V1-GD) is set to its nominal set point for the sparge gas flow.
Sparge Gas Valve (V7-SH) is opened.
Carrier Gas Valve, (V1-R) is closed.
Reactor Purge Valve (V2-R) is closed.
Carrier Valve (V1-R)
When V1-R is tested, the gas flow rate should be approximately 165 cc/min. Initially, the flow rate will fluctuate
from this value as the gas flow control system adjusts to having the valve opened but will stabilize within a few
seconds. If the flow rate stabilizes to less than 165 cc/min, investigate possible plugging in the carrier gas lines.
If the flow rate does not stabilize to 165 cc/min after 20 seconds, V1-GD may need to be replaced.
During this test, the gas valves are set as follows:
Reactor Purge Valve (V2-R) is closed.
Proportional Valve (V1-GD) is set to its nominal set point for the carrier gas flow.
Carrier Gas Valve (V1-R) is opened.
Sparge Gas Valve (V7-SH) is closed.
Reactor Valve (V2-R)
When Reactor Purge Valve (V2-R) is tested, the gas flow rate should be approximately 165 cc/min. Initially, the
flow rate will fluctuate from this value as the gas flow control system adjusts to having the valve opened., but
will stabilize within a few seconds. If the flow rate stabilizes to less than 165 cc/min., investigate possible
plugging in the reactor purge gas lines. If the flow rate does not stabilize to 165 cc/min after 20 seconds, the
proportional valve V1-GD may need to be replaced.
During this test, valves are set as following:
• Carrier Gas Valve (V1-R) is closed.
• Sparge Gas Valve (V7-SH) is closed.
• Reactor Purge Valve (V2-R) is opened
• Reactor Seal Valves (V4-R) and (V5-R) are opened.
