Sparge

The duration of the sparging during the NPOC measurements is set. Because of the high efficiency of the
Sparging Chamber, a sparge time as short as 0.8 min. often is sufficient for all ranges, except the Up to 100 ppm
range, which has a sparge time of 2 min. The minimum sparge time for all ranges is 0 min. in NPOC mode.
However, the composition of the sample can affect this. The Sparging Chamber also may become contaminated
during use, requiring longer sparge times. Therefore, the sparge can be set up to a maximum of 30 min.

Flush

The Analyzer can be set to perform two different types of flushes prior to a measurement of a Grab sample. If
the sample contains large concentrations of particulates or salts, it is advisable to select a Dilution Water flush.
If you select Dilution Water, the Analyzer flushes out the Reactor and the high-pressure valves with dilution
water before the sample is measured. This flush removes any salt or particulates from previous measurements.
The second type of flush is the Sample flush. Select one to five Sample flushes if the sample to be measured is
thought to be a much different concentration than the previous sample. During a Sample flush, the Analyzer
prepares the sample, acid, oxidizer, and dilution water (if required), in the same proportions that will be used in
the subsequent sample measurement. This mixture is then used to rinse out the Sparger and down-stream
tubing. The dilution water and sample flush(es) may both be run with the dilution water first, followed by the
sample flush(es).

Manual Dilution

Some users prefer to dilute the sample manually before it is introduced into the Analyzer for grab
measurements. If that has been done, enter the dilution ratio used (as Dilution Water Volume/Sample Volume)
for the manual dilution, and the Analyzer will report the undiluted concentration of the sample.

Configuring Conversion Factors

Configure up to five conversion factors that can be applied to the Analyzer's results by using the Conversion
Factor feature (Maintenance tab
