Replacing the High Pressure Valve Seals

Wear eye protection and gloves when performing this task.
The Sievers InnovOx Online TOC Analyzer has two high pressure valves (V4-R and V5-R). These valves are
identified in
Figure on page
after one month of operation. The Analyzer issues a warning when the seals are starting to leak. Replace the
seals using the following procedure if that warning is reported.
To replace the seals
1.
Shut down the Analyzer via the on-screen menu (Maintenance

Wait for the display to turn off, and then off power to the Analyzer using the main power switch on the
side of the Analyzer.
3.
Open the door of the Analyzer.
4.
Remove the four screws that secure the valve motor to the Analyzer, using a 5/32 in. Allen wrench (hex
key).

Pull the motor away from the Analyzer
6.
Remove the seal from the end of the shaft, using a 3/8 in wrench
7.
Locate the new seal and inspect the valve seating surface. Clean the valve seal surface with a paper
towel and water, if needed.
8.
Secure the new seal to the end of the valve shaft, and then using a 3/8 in. wrench tighten the seal 1/4
turn past finger-tight. Do not over-tighten the seal.
9.
Replace the motor and secure it with the four screws.
10. Repeat steps

11. Perform other maintenance tasks, or close the Analyzer door and return the Analyzer to normal
operation.
12. The seals must be used before they conform to the shape of the sealing surface in the valves. They will
have to operate for at least 20 measurements before the Analyzer will achieve its maximum precision.
